Filming: Day 3

Filming: Day 3

Today we were able to finish the majority of our outdoor scenes. This was the earliest date that all of our cast members and crew were available once again, due to the Easter weekend and work commitments. We were once again filming in very poor conditions, however everybody was a lot more prepared this time, bringing much warmer clothing. Our actors once again delivered in their roles, and we were able to improvise on our script and shot list, while filming, to improve the overall quality of each of the scenes. The majority of the shots that we used for this scene were two-shots and tracking shots of the characters, as they needed to be shown travelling and conversing, as the scene featured the film's necessary exposition. This scene also featured a short appearance from a 'Limbo' (a hobo in our film's afterlife), played by Aaron. Aaron also acted in the next scene on this day, this time playing the role of Kevin's friend. During this scene I used a filming trick, following the 180 rule and swapping out John for Aaron, in order to help convey the idea that they are no longer in the real world, with 'The Ferryman' being able to summon people and messages. There were some minor setbacks as, due to this being filmed over a holiday period, the area was a lot busier and we had to wait for a lot of people to exit the area before we could continue filming. Although, this did not affect the quality of the filming, as these issues and setbacks were merely that this made things quite time consuming. Another, more important issue, that occurred, however, was that we struggled to record dialogue between the characters. As the conditions were so poor, it was incredibly windy, and the technique of placing a tissue over the audio device (which worked quite well last time) was unsuccessful this time around. To fix this problem, we are going to have to dub the audio in post-production, preferably outside to gain the desired effect.
