Audience Feedback

We once again used SurveyMonkey to create a survey for our audience, which we were then able to share with friends over Facebook, just like we did with the last survey. This particular one was created as a follow up to our initial audience research that we carried out in pre-production, whereas this was done in the post-production stages and asked the respondents questions about our film after they had watched it.

'The Life of Death' Analysis 'The Life of Death' is a short film, written and directed by Marcin Dubiniec, that chronicles the life of the character of Death, from childhood until death.  The film opens with a wide establishing shot of a densely populated New York graveyard, as the film's sombre, downbeat score begins to play in the background. We are immediately led to believe that this film will be an emotional drama of sorts. We then get multiple shots of mundane everyday life in the city, such as the passing of trains and taxi cabs, children and dogs playing, as well as the sounds of drilling and car horns. 'River': Applied to Narrative Theories

We decided to apply certain narrative theories to our film, in order to gain a better understanding of how we should structure the film. We looked at the theories of Propp, Todorov and Strauss. Propp's Character Types: The Hero: Kevin The Villain: Limbos The Helper: The Ferryman/Ron Todorov's Narrative Theory: Equilibrium: Kevin being alive, Ron continuing with his job Disruption: Kevin dying Recognition: Ron and Kevin meet, Ron explains his job to Kevin Repair: Ron brings him to memories of his past life Reinstatement: Kevin going 'up' or 'down' Strauss' Binary Opposition: Life vs. Death Knowing vs. Unknowing Good vs. Bad Moral vs. Immoral Heaven vs. Hell
